It takes guts to open a business during a pandemic, but Antonio Badalamenti has shown he can stomach it. Formerly the chef at Nugolo (2020’s rave review restaurant opening, back in the days when restaurant reviews were written!), Antonio and his Sydney-based brother Alessandro spent summer 2020 thinking up TYPIQO, an online quality grocery delivery service

Already popular with foodies in Florence, the 29-year-old chef with Michelin-star experience continues to expand the range, hand-picking 37 producers and over 200 products. “We aim to research the best quality and ‘traditional’ produce from the excellent range that the Italian regions have to offer as well as offering some international products,” explains Antonio.

Just go to www.typiqo.it and place your order, paying by credit card. You can choose your delivery time slot. Free delivery for orders over 50 euro; 2.95 euro charge for smaller orders. Delivery is now available within Florence city centre as well as the suburbs.

For your picnic in the park, opt for fresh goat cheese (7.50 euro/350g) from Podere Ruggeri; delicious spelt bread studded with walnuts from La Bottega di Gabri (3.20 euro/500g); and fennel-flecked finocchiona from Rufina’s Macelleria Zagli (2.90 euro/100g. While you’re at it, stock up your pantry with flour from Siena and Arezzo, as well as Tuscan coffee, jams and wine.
