After much criticism, local officials of the Tuscan beach resort town of Forte dei Marmi have decided to cancel plans to hire private officers to patrol beaches for vendors selling illegal goods. Upon assurances from the local police that forces were being increased to better control illegal beach activities, City Councillor and President of the Seaside Resort Establishments Association, Umberto Buratti, was persuaded not to hire external security forces.
