Animal lovers rejoice! From 10am to 6pm, Giardino dell’Orticoltura will fill with events focused on four-legged friends and not only. 15 animal welfare associations and the councilor for the environment, Cecilia Del Re, will participate in the event which features two exhibitions, one focusing on the vegan lifestyle, and another on unusual pet choices.

Twelve locations, many meetings, and internationally renowned speakers investigate the transformation of our society as we merge the physical and the digital into a new dimension, as declared in this year’s theme: ‘The Future is #PHYGITAL’. Ten thematic areas are explored, such as Legal Tech and Cybern/Ethics, with gaming, literature, and training featuring in the captivating progamme. Talks that are bound to pique interest include a discussion on the repercussions of the internet on tourism and our enjoyment of culture.

TALK/ Italy and the luck of the draw

The Royal Drawing School of London continues their online series of Creative Conversations curated by Dr Claudia Tobin at 7pm UTC/GMT+1, with Marzia Faietti, former director of the Uffizi Gallery’s Prints and Drawings Department, and Linda Falcone, author, creator and coordinator of ‘Restoration Conversations’, and former director of Advancing Women Artists. The talk titled ‘Italy and the Luck of the Draw’ exploring highlights of Dr Faietti’s multi-faceted career as an exhibition curator. The event is created in collaboration with Calliope Arts Foundation, an organization based in Florence and London that promotes and advances public knowledge and appreciation of art, literature and social history from a female perspective, through restorations, exhibitions, education and cultural initiatives. The free event will be held on Zoom, with donations welcomed.
CHARITY/ Floralia per Santo Spirito

The 6th edition of the charity market exhibition brings together plants, flowers, crafts and cultural activities to help the Amici di Santo Spirito raise funds for security services inside the church. A group of florists and horticulturists will add colour to the event, with other exhibitors presenting their handicrafts, jewellery, clothing, watercolours, prints, terracotta, bags, designs and more. Guided tours of the Basilica and Michelangelo’s wooden crucifix entice culture vultures, as well as workshops on topics like engraving, flower sushi, watercolours, wicker baskets, and handmade flower perfumes by the Istituto dei Bardi and the Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School, taking place at via dei Michelozzi 2. EXHIBITION/ La Comune Discendenza: Federica Rugnone
Works on display at Il Bisonte foundation for art and printmaking
A solo exhibition by Tuscan artist Federica Rugnone is on display at the Il Bisonte Foundation for art and printmaking. Works produced using intaglio techniques and centuries-old printing processes such as cyanotype, gumprint and salted paper are used for the pieces which dialogue with concepts of humankind, animals and the environment. The exhibition is curated by Silvia Bellotti, and promoted by the Il Bisonte Foundation with a contribution from the Fondazione CR Firenze.
