The G20 meeting of agriculture ministers will take place in Florence on September 17 and 18, with a series of events organised throughout September to mark the occasion. The meetings that will take place as part of the G20 cover topics such as economics and the agricultural sciences, with a specific look at financing following the crises, and the need for a focus on mental health.
Free admission to museums, workshops for children, and markets form the events line-up, while initiatives such as urban beekeeping and the ‘donate a fruit tree’ project also feature. A ‘green surprise’ is planned for piazza del Duomo, and a project for a vegetable garden in each school will be launched. A pathway to connect the Bardini museum with Villa Bardini and Forte di Belvedere will take off, in the busy month of plans for the city.
Mayor Dario Nardella commented, “This is the time for initiatives against desertification and climate change, for the fight against the waste of resources, and for food education. Florence will be the world capital for agriculture over the upcoming days and we are certain that a new green page will be written in the city”.
The rich programme of free events takes place throughout September, in collaboration with Regione Toscana, Comune di Firenze, MUS.E, Camera di Commercio Firenze, the Florentine Civic Museums, Uffizi Galleries, Fondazione CR Firenze, the Bardini and Peyron Monumental Parks Foundation and the Accademia dei Georgofili.
