On September 1, Italy will extend its “green pass” rules to trains, planes and schools.

How to get your Green Pass in Italy

As from this date, persons must have a EU Digital Covid Certificate to travel on long-distance trains, buses and ferries as well as to take domestic flights within Italy. The certificate will not need to be shown on local buses and trams, regional trains and regional ferries.

School and university staff will be required to have a green pass to work on the premises.

The rules already in force for eating indoors, access to museums and attending events remain unchanged.

The certification shows that you have been vaccinated (one dose is sufficient for access), that you have had a negative test in the last 48 hours, or that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last six months.

Eugenio Giani, president of the Tuscan Region, is preparing to go one step further than the national legislation as he plans to introduce even tighter measures by the end of September.
