Fifth edition of the popular urban festival

 

 

A festival themed around the “folks” and people of Tuscany comes to the Parco del Castell dell’Acciaiolo in Scandicci. Four days of music, food, handmade markets and workshops for children are sure to put smiles on all faces.

Villa Caruso

 

 

Wind quintet of the Accademia Musicale A. Bassi of Montespertoli will take part in the Voci in Villa series at the remarkable Villa Caruso.  The concert will be in tribute to the tenor Amedeo Bassi, a contemporary of Enrico Caruso a close friend. The quintet is made up of Serena Caremani and Francesca Gheri (flautists), Alessio Donnini (Clarinet), Marco Bellini (bass clarinet) and Massimo Annibali (horn) who will perform opera arias and symphonies in the stunning setting of the Italian style garden at Enrico Caruso’s home. Booking required at info@villacaruso.it, cost 12 euro, 10 euro reduced for Coop members.

ENTERTAINMENT/ Smiling Show

Perfect evening at via Baracca

 

On the date that was intended to mark the end of the health emergency, a theatrical show with music and dance recounts the lockdown experience. Organized by Tuballoswing, ‘Renaissance – Renny’, Runner Pizza, Icchethai Thai restaurant, Omikron service Florence, Giratempo vintage market and People Hairstylist & Barbershop. Students of the Tuballoswing school dazzle with amazing choreography, under the artistic direction of Giulia Fantini. Music is provided by DJ Red Moon and I Ragazzi Scimmia and there will be food, drink, dance, a vintage market, and even the chance to get your hair styled or mustache touched up! Free admission.

EXHIBITION/ Ultra The Bright Side of Life by Sedici
July 31

Ideated, produced and curated by Sedici, the ULTRA photographic review takes its name from Monty Python’s Life of Brian. ‘The Bright Side of Life’ is a free admission evening as part of the Prato Festival and sees comedy as a release of these recent months of tension. Irony, the grotesque, the absurd, tragicomic and amusing are all explored in these engaging works by both Italian and international creatives. Projections, exhibitions and open air talks make up the programme. The exhibition will be opened at 9pm, with a presentation at 9.30pm of Michele Smargiassi’s book Sorridere: La fotografia comica e quella ridicola. “The Bright Side of Life” slideshow will be projected at 10.30pm with at talk at 11pm on the theme of irony, comedy and the grotesque.

The eighth edition of the Prato Film Festival takes place in a spectacular new setting, the summer cinema arena of the Emperor’s Castle. Free screenings, a short film competition, awards and encounters with artists and cinema personalities make up the packed programme.
