FESTIVAL/ St Patrick’s Day

6pm, March 17

A recently launched Facebook and WhatsApp group called Irish in Italy hosts an online toast to St Patrick’s Day March 17, at 6pm. Join their FB page to sign up via eventbrite and take part as the Irish in Italy come together (remotely) to celebrate the patron saint of the emerald isle.

TF Together

Every weekday at 5pm CET—unless another time is noted—we’re going to try to have something to do together. We have chosen to meet on Go To Meeting or Go To Webinar (depending on the event format). The kind folks at LogMeIn are our technical sponsors; their digital communications packages make it possible for us to meet and interact online. With a wine club on Wednesdays, music, psychologists and more, the line-up is being ever updated. Read more here

DISCOVERY/ Museo Galileo

Exhibition space at the Museo Galileo dedicated to representations of the globe

The Museo Galileo joins the #iorestoacasa campaign by making its digital resources available through the web, a journey through the history of science through educational videos, virtual exhibitions and thematic insights. Videos on their Facebook page share insights and stories as well as the museum’s YouTube channel.

MUSIC/ Tempo Reale

6pm, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from March 16-April 3

Meteorological musical improvisation is the innovation theme to the performances that will be streamed via the Tempo Reale Facebook page every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6pm, starting March 16. Musicians improvise, inspired by the weather. Contributors include Agnese Banti, Francesco Canavese, Simone Faraci, Francesco Giomi (concept creator), Andrea Gozzi (coordinator), Giovanni Magaglio, Damiano Meacci and Leonardo Rubboli.

ART/ Florence Academy of Art competition

“The sunny street of Costa San Giorgio” by Principle Instructor Tanvi Pathere

While the Academy is closed until April 3, that doesn’t mean art has to stop too. An international competition hosted by The Florence Academy of Art awards a scholarship for a workshop to the best drawing or painting of the view from your room or home. Send a low-resolution jpg photograph of your completed work to social@florenceacademyofart.com, with #viewfrommyroom as the subject header. In the body of your email include your full name and how you would like to be credited. A selection of entries will be posted on the Academy’s instagram page. Competition closes on April 3.
