Now that autumn is on the horizon, our thoughts turn to getaways in the Tuscan countryside, an escape from city life and solace for mind, body and soul. Just 40 minutes by car from central Florence, Castello Del Nero is the perfect place to get away from it all for a few hours, an entire weekend or even longer.

Fall for foodies

Autumn in Tuscany is all about foodie experiences as the grape harvest has drawn to a close, truffles scent the air and olives are gathered among the silver-green leaves. After all that sensory awakening, tasting nature’s fruits is a fait accompli—and Castello Del Nero stands for indulgence. Reserve the exclusive four-night Antinori treat and you’ll be rewarded with a wine tour and tasting at Antinori’s historic Badia a Passignano cellars and a meal at the nearby Michelin-star restaurant.

Alternatively, opt for the hotel’s Gourmet package for two nights’ accommodation, a Chianti Classico tasting in the medieval cellars and a decadent dinner at Castello Del Nero’s Michelin-star La Torre Restaurant. Active foodies won’t be thrown off the scent with the Truffle Hunting package: spending a morning with a professional truffle hunter and his faithful hound, followed by lunch at the hunter’s restaurant. If you’re staying at the hotel in October, you’ll have the chance to taste the estate’s honey, a small-scale production solely for guests only, served with local cheeses and even as a spa treatment.

Mark your diaries: Castello Del Nero is renowned for its traditional Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas Day Feast and New Year’s Eve Gala Night.

Sublime spa experiences

As the short nights draw in, treat yourself to some premium pampering at Castello Del Nero’s ESPA, a rare luxury spa in Tuscany inspired by the surrounding scenic beauty. Gift vouchers can be purchased online for an array of tempting treatments including the Time for You, Drink & Spa and the You & Me package for couples.

Arty aperitifs

You still have until the end of September (weather permitting) if you haven’t made it to Castello Del Nero’s Thursday arty aperitifs this summer. September 27 is a special date on the calendar as a new exhibition by Fabio Calvetti will be revealed, organized in collaboration with San Gimignano’s Galleria Velathri.
