This year the IQA World Cup is taking place in Florence (fittingly, just after the final match of Florentine calcio storico, another near-otherworldly sport). 31 teams from around the world have brought their Beaters, Seekers, Chasers and Keepers to fight for the championship title currently held by the Australian Dropbears. A magical sport first introduced in the Harry Potter book and film series, the real-life version resembles rugby and dodgeball. The sporting event is ongoing until July 2 and will move from Santa Croce (pictured) to the Cerreti sports complex (viale Manfredo Fanti 18), with the final match on July 2 set to take place in Padovani stadium.
