The Student Hotel Florence Lavagnini is much more than just student rooms. The co-living, co-working hybrid brings this vibrant format to Italy for the first time at Florence Lavagnini.

After a 24-month renovation, the nearly 20,000-square metre property designed by Giuseppe Poggi in 1864, will breathe new life into the Lavagnini area, fronted by the Fortezza da Basso gardens. Originally built for diplomatic needs, the “dream palace” was used for many years as a public office space. Maintaining its stunning 19th-century façade, The Student Hotel Florence Lavagnini has been fully refurbished inside, mirroring the successful template previously established by the ever-expanding brand in the Netherlands.

A blend of historic creativity and strong local tradition, until now Florence has been lacking a truly modern centre for culture-craving locals and internationals to feel at home.

The Student Hotel Florence Lavagnini fills that gap. As Founder and CEO of The Student Hotel Charlie MacGregor put it, “With every Student Hotel we create the best space so guests can discover their purpose and change the world. Florence Lavagnini has exceeded every expectation. It is quite simply exquisite. This is the best example yet of The Student Hotel’s Complete Connected Community, catering for everyone, with the highest standards.”

The 390-room property is much more than a hotel, student residence or co-working space. From the rooftop pool and skybar, with exceptional views of the city skyline (see this month’s cover of The Florentine), to the central courtyard with its super-sized graffiti installation, The Student Hotel Florence Lavagnini is a destination in its own right.

In partnership with restaurant La Ménagére, The Student Hotel Florence Lavagnini guests can savour expertly mixed cocktails beside the rooftop pool, an espresso coffee in the public piazza open to all or anywhere on the open-space ground floor of the main building. The communal spaces will be filled with a playful variety of shops and services, including a restaurant experience across an eclectic kaleidoscope of spaces and ambiences in a secret and amazing concept from the much-loved local brand.

Local businesses, entrepreneurs, freelancers, students and visiting businesspeople can take a desk or meeting room in the co-working space, TSH Collab, which will inspire training and learners alike in its smart space vaunting advanced audio-visual technology. Indeed, one of the aims of TSH Florence is to foster brilliant talent and sparkling futures with the orange-hued co-lab acting as an incubator for the city’s—and the world’s—next generation. Plus, the large-scale auditorium promises to be another space in Florence to hold outstanding private and public events.

The Student Hotel Florence Lavagnini: this summer’s massive opening for Florence. We’ll see you on the roof, poolside, gazing at the Duomo over cocktails—that’s a promise.
