Master’s course in Alto Artigianato

IED Florence’s master’s course in Alto Artigianato combines design processes with know-how and skills pertaining to high-end craftsmanship.

The program is a unique experience in the cradle of made in Italy quality, connecting tangible and intangible experiences related to Italian quality and artisanal processes.

Through different workshops offering a trans-disciplinary approach, the students will face innovative production processes according to the values of the artisanal environment, defining advanced craftsmanship concepts. The Renaissance bottega (workshop) of the craftsperson becomes an innovation-oriented workshop with connections to the genius loci of Florence and Tuscany.

This holistic experience into Tuscany “Saper Fare” will work on various high-end products, such as home details and furniture or personal accessories as wearable artefacts in line with lifestyles. The workshops will focus in particular on new performances of the artefact and innovation processes for the high-end manufacturing chain.

The master proposes a “new state of self-awareness”, aimed at spreading understanding among students about the quality of craft products as valuable experiences deriving from traditional know-how (saper fare) and emerging innovative processes. This background enables new designers to manage design strategies, re-design concepts and new design visions based on “Made in Italy” production systems.
