Adventurers on the hunt for their next adrenaline rush should turn toward an unexpected spot this summer: Scesta. This small fraction of Bagni di Lucca (LU) is home to Canyon Park, managed by the Toscana Adventure association. On Sunday, July 31, the adventure park will celebrate its first birthday, looking back on a banner year.

Behind Canyon Park’s success are friends Paolo Roverani and Francesco Ricci, respectively president and vice president of Toscana Adventure. United by their passion for the outdoors and a desire to make a major change in their lives, they cleaned up a 1,200 meter stretch of land along the Lima River to open the park. Visitors of all ages can take part in a diverse range of activities, including rafting, water hiking, the Hawaiian “art” of standup paddleboarding, an elaborate ropes course and numerous other offerings. Word about the family-friendly park has spread like wildfire: on weekends, the multilingual team of guides has welcomed up to 250 guests per day.

Canyon Park is open daily until September 15 and on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays during October. It will then close until March. For more information, see the website
