After last season’s super-successful TF Gelato Night, The Florentine is excited to host another tasty event in via de’ Ginori. This time, pizza is on the plate! Join the TF team in sampling classic flavors from the organic eatery Simbiosi, one of central Florence’s most popular pizza joints. Neighboring My Sugar is offering chocolate gelato. Mark your calendars, clotheshorses: Vintage Selection is a must for those of you with a nostalgic streak. With the theme V Generation, the 27th edition of this vintage marketplace, which follows the Pitti shows, celebrates trends from 1960s cinema. Around 50 Italian and international exhibitors will be hawking their wares. Be inspired at the Very Vintage Vision exhibition, sip cocktails and nibble snacks catered by Tuscan Excelsia or find your next signature piece in the Remake section, featuring repurposed vintage items with new, modern details. Turkish-born French actor Tchéky Karyo takes to the stage in Jimi Hendrix: Electric Monologue, Zeno Bianu’s poetic vision inspired by Jimi Hendrix’s unfinished lyric ‘The story of life is quicker than the wink of an eye,’ which prompted him imagine the state Hendrix might have entered in the first moments after his death. The draw of the show, primarily in French, is the layering of Karyo’s voice on Hendrix-inspired sounds and riffs engineered by Philippe Moja. SKATE/Skate Date!January 23–24Nelson Mandela Forum,  piazza Enrico Berlinguer, Florence

Need a night out that breaks up your usual routine? Head to the International Skate Awards for impressively acrobatic performances by international ice skating champions, from soloists and pairs to large synchronized groups. Florence is the only stop in Italy for this unconventional showcase, which previously toured through Bogotà, Shanghai and Buenos Aires. Most of the competitive action will take place on Saturday, January 23, beginning at 9pm, with awards for best performance and top young talents. On Sunday at 4pm, the skaters will mix it up a bit, with a performance of a musical, ‘Time Explorers,’ which incorporates live singing, dance and rhythmic gymnastics. STRETCH/Yoga out!January 23, 11am–3pmVia del Campuccio 88, Florence

Kids going stir-crazy in the cold? Have them warm up their muscles and minds with free yoga lessons for little ones this Saturday, taught in both English and Italian!  Using a traditional Himalayan approach, qualified bilingual yoga instructor Carlotta Nucci will teach in 45-minute slots, incorporating games, storytelling, music and more into the exercise, all in collaboration with English language school Inglese Firenze.
