Only one Fiorentina match remains this season: at home against Chievo on May 31.

Fiorentina did not enjoy the best of starts to the 2014–15 season with a 2–0 defeat against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. The situation quickly improved with an initial 3–0 victory in the Europa League at home versus French side Guincamp, followed by the slings and arrows of footballing fortune with a spate of wins and losses in Serie A. Stability only reigned in the purple-clothed team’s European and Coppa Italia performances, with key results against Tottenham and Roma.

A revolution is on the cards in terms of the line-up. It seems likely that Gomez, Diamanti and Neto will bid Florence farewell. Juventus are showing interest in Matías Fernández. Aquliani and Pizarro are nearing the end of their time at Fiorentina. This season’s major asset, Salah, is expected to remain, as too are Babacar and Joaquin.

Even Montella’s leadership cannot be guaranteed after three solid years.

Next season will be Fiorentina’s 78th in Serie A, and hopes are high that the squad will finish by holding on to the fifth spot, qualifying for next year’s Europa League.
