If you’re a wine and cookbook lover, and you’re visiting Milan for business, pleasure or a combination of the two during #Expo2015, unwind with a glass of something special at the Milano Wine Garden.

The frescoed 15th-century Oratorio della Passione in piazza Sant’Ambrogio sets the scene for books and wine in equal measure. Held in a neighbourhood where vines once grew in the gardens of Milan’s Renaissance buildings, the Lombard city has centuries-old traditions as an active wine centre. The space, near the basilica of Sant’Ambrogio, upholds the symbolic importance of viticulture, spreading a culture of wine through talks and tastings during Universal Exposition in Milan. May events will include tasting sessions featuring small wine producers from Valpolicella and the Langhe as well as children’s workshops to educate little ones about how wine is made.

Until September 20, Milano Wine Garden is open, free of charge, every day from 10.30 to 3.30pm, 5 to 10pm Monday to Friday; noon-3pm, 6-10pm Saturday and Sunday.

To register for a tasting session and for more information, see milanowinegarden.it.
