Though Florence’s artistic heritage is celebrated every day, the many contemporary creatives living and working in the city often slip under the radar. Pop Up Florence aims to change this: from May 9 through 11, the event will shine a light on the exciting, innovative developments in Florence’s vibrant and international community of young artisans and designers.

La Serra MK Textile Atelier, a screen-print textile studio at via Salvestrina 1, which was once a greenhouse attached to the historic Palazzo Pandolfini, will be the site of the pop-up showcase.

Expect to find a bit of everything. Works for sale will range from mixed-media collages and repurposed Italian maps to chic jewelry, kitschy housewares and hand-dyed scarves. Featured artisans and designers are all participating by invitation. They work in a wide variety of media and hail from countries ranging from Japan to Italy.

The event will also showcase the unique work of textile designers Karl Jorns and Margherita Pandolfini, who founded La Serra MK Textile Atelier.

Pop Up Florence kicks off on Friday, May 9, at 6.30 with an opening reception. On Saturday, May 10, hours are noon–9pm; on Sunday, 11am–8pm. To make sure you don’t miss out on this exciting, eclectic event, which is strictly by invitation only, call 349/5803147 or e-mail margherita.mktextileatelier@gmail.com.
