The Florentine has received a request from a reader and we’d really like to be able to help. Steve, from East Victoria Park in Western Australia, has happy memories of his visit to Pisa and Tuscany. Soon after this trip, he became paralyzed. Now his favourite souvenir from Pisa has broken and needs help getting another. In his own words:

“A few years ago I purchased a small mug whilst at from a stall near The Leaning tower of Pisa (see picture). It was my most treasured reminder of my trip, as soon after, I became paralysed due to a bug attacking my spine. This week I cracked it and have been so upset, as I won’t be able to get back to Italy again to purchase another.I like my coffee, but, being paralysed I have physical limitations that prohibit me from drinking particularly large mugs of coffee (not to mention travel). So the mug was just the right size and gave me many pleasant memories of my time in Italy.”

We know that the experience of visiting Italy can be marvellous, and many of us either stay, if we can, or plan multiple return trips. In the meantime we cherish our photos, memories and small souvenirs. Steve cannot come back here, and we want to make sure he has a daily reminder of Italy.

While Steve has asked for our help to find out how to purchase such a mug, we think it would be nice if there are any TF readers planning a visit to Pisa, who might be willing to post him the mug, or maybe are heading in his direction (Australia). Our guess is that photos and other “care package” items might also cheer him up :).

If you’re willing to help Steve, please write to info@theflorentine.net and we’ll pass his email and postage addresses on to you.
