It was a historic match. The odds were against Fiorentina after the first half with Juventus up 2–0, but an epic comeback in the second half resulted in a magical day for all Fiorentina supporters.

Giuseppe Rossi scored his first Serie A hat trick, which, with Joaquin’s precise finish, put Fiorentina firmly in the lead in what seemed to be 12 minutes of blackout for Antonio Conte’s Juventus.

The 4–2 final score exceeded even the most optimistic expectations after the first half. With celebratory chanting and laughter in Florence’s streets and piazzas, the city seemed to have a purple halo.

Fiorentina–Pandurii (October 24)

To rest his key players in anticipation of the next Europa League game, in Verona, Vincenzo Montella will change his starting 11. Fiorentina’s lead in its Europa League group permits the Viola’s manager to vary his lineup against Romanian team Pandurii. A starting spot is expected for young Brazilian Ryder Matos. However, Fiorentina must not underestimate Pandurii, who appear to be in good shape and arrive at the match after a convincing 6–1 victory in their league.

Chievo Verona–Fiorentina (October 27)

After the match versus Pandurii, Fiorentina will confront Chievo Verona on their turf. The Clivensi have been able to avoid relegation in recent years, but the results thus far in the season have not been very exciting. Coach Giuseppe Sannino is said to be close to a potential sacking. Could this be his last fighting chance?

Injury status

Rising Croatian star Ante Rebić seems to have recovered from his muscle tear. While Mario Gomez is still not ready to return to the pitch, the German superstar is expected to be fully fit for the November 2 game versus giants AC Milan. Fiorentina’s medical staff will assess Rossi’s physical condition, as the Italian striker left the pitch against Juventus with some minor back pain. He will likely sit out against Pandurii in order to play against Chievo Verona. Recovering from an ankle injury, Josip Iličić is expected to be out a few more weeks.
