A stecchetto: To be on a diet.
Example: ‘La su’ moglie lo tiene a stecchetto perchè cià i’ colesterolo a mille!’(‘His wife keeps him on a diet because his cholesterol is through the roof!’)
Dindi: Money. This word is usually used with children.
Example: ‘Vieni nini, i nonno ti dà i dindi pe’ i’ gelato.’(‘Come here little one, grandpa will give you money for ice cream.’)
Beccare: To get something, either physically or materially; to conquer someone’s affection; to run into or see someone while out.
Example: ‘Ha’ beccato ieri sera in discoteca?’ (‘Did you score last night at the disco?’)
‘Mi son beccato un ma di gola.’ (‘I got a sore throat.’)
‘Indovina chi ho beccato fuori a bere.’ (‘Guess who I saw out drinking last night?’)
