Literally ‘to give and to keep.’ Figuratively, the saying indicates something possessed in large quantity-so much that there is plenty to go around.

Example: ‘Sta’ tranquillo che stiacciata ce nè da dare e da serbare, un t’hai visto quanto n’ho comprata?‘ (‘Don’t worry, there is more than enough schiacciata to go around; didn’t you see how much I bought?’)

‘La pazienza un mi manca: n’ho da dare e da serbare!’ (‘I’m definitely not lacking patience-I’ve got plenty to go around!’)

 

 

Un c’è verso

Expression that indicates the impossibility of doing something.

Example: ‘Ovvia!! Un c’è verso!! La matematica un la vole capire!’ (‘Oh, come on! There’s just no getting around it!! He doesn’t want to get math!’)

 

 

Parea unto

Literally ‘He or she seemed greasy.’ Figuratively, someone who wants to get away quickly.

Example: ‘Oh, ho visto Gino: dopo la figuraccia lè andato via che parea unto!’ (‘Oh, I just saw Gino-after making such a fool of himself he took off so quickly that he seemed like greased lightening!’)
