The Fiorentina
went to Verona on March 13 to win an important match against Chievo. Head coach
Sinisa Mihajlovic said in a press conference the day before the match, ‘I have
faith in my players.’ After many missed opportunities to score a goal in the
first half, Juan Manuel Vargas scored his first goal of the season with a free
kick just outside the penalty box. Chievo was unable to get the ball past Viola
goalkeeper Artur Boruc, thus assuring a win for the Fiorentina. With these
three points, the Fiorentina moves up to eighth place in the Serie A rankings.
