From the Paolo Giovio villa to the Medici collections. The central work at the 2009 edition of the ‘never seen before’ exhibition is a portrait by the ‘troubled genius,’ Amico Aspertini, of doctor and philosopher, Alessandro Achillini. This painting is part of the Paolo Giovio collection, which includes portraits of many illustrious men. The exhibit features many other paintings of the city’s most famous men, including the portraits that Cosimo I had copied from the Musaeum di Giovio.
