Based on the TV series ‘Firefly’, ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’, ‘Angel’ (and ‘Firefly’) creator Joss Whedon’s first feature film is a CGI-free sci-fi action adventure, in other words a good old-fashioned space opera, with a ready-made cult status, clever script and effective cast. By general agreement, a very successful revisiting of the territory familiar to Luca devotees, with the advantage of a literary sheen (via 1984 and Brave New World), resulting in a welcome addition to the genre from Whedon. May the force be with him!
